PERKINS-TRYON DEMONS
Coach: DAWAYNE HUDSON
8-3
OFFENSE
Despite losing a few key contributors from last year’s 8-3 campaign, the Perkins-Tryon Demons return a strong nucleus on both sides of the ball and enter the 2025 season with confidence and depth. Offensively, the Demons will be led by quarterback Beau Gravitt (6-0, 170, Sr.) , who showed poise and leadership last fall. Gravitt completed 73 of 129 passes for 922 yards and added 136 yards on the ground, totaling 15 touchdowns. With another offseason under his belt, Gravitt is expected to take a big step forward in running the offense efficiently and explosively.
In the backfield, the Demons feature a powerful one-two punch with Raiden McLemore (5-11, 190, Sr.) and Wyatt Atkinson (6-0, 175, Sr.). McLemore is coming off a huge season, rushing 126 times for 752 yards and scoring 15 touchdowns, while Atkinson added 593 yards and 10 scores of his own on just 79 carries. Both backs bring different strengths to the field, making them difficult to contain over four quarters.
The receiving corps is anchored by Jace Myers (6-0, 170, Sr.), an athletic target who also contributes heavily on defense. Tight end Ethan Anderson (6-4, 210, Sr.) is a versatile piece who can block or release downfield, giving Gravitt a reliable middle-of-the-field option. Up front, Caleb Reedy (5-11, 220, Jr.) returns to lead the offensive line, bringing physicality and experience to the trenches.
Depth has often been a concern in past years, but this fall’s roster offers more rotational flexibility, giving the Demons the ability to stay fresh late into games.
DEFENSE

The defensive unit will be built around several standout two-way players, including Wyatt Atkinson, who is entering his third season as a starter. A relentless competitor, Atkinson’s instincts and athleticism make him a force in the secondary. His younger brother, Westin Atkinson (5-10, 165, So.), returns after an impressive freshman season where he started on both sides of the ball and showed maturity beyond his years. Expect him to continue growing into one of the team’s stars.
The linebacker corps is anchored by Raiden McLemore and Jace Myers, both of whom bring toughness, experience, and leadership. McLemore is a sideline-to-sideline tackler with a nose for the ball, while Myers delivers big hits and high energy.
Ethan Anderson will be a disruptive presence off the edge at defensive end, while Caleb Reedy plugs up the interior on the defensive line. Together, they provide a strong foundation up front.
An exciting player to watch this season will be sophomore Deangelo Johnson, who had a strong junior varsity campaign last year. Coaches are high on his potential after seeing his growth in the spring, and he’s expected to contribute at a high level this fall.
With an experienced core and a hungry group of young players, the Perkins-Tryon defense has the tools to be one of the most physical and disciplined units in their district.
