Pawnee’s Cale McPeek – Football Spotlight – Presented by Wolf Creek Land Services

Pawnee High School senior Cale McPeek has made a name for himself as a true three-sport athlete, excelling in football, wrestling, and baseball. On the football field, McPeek takes on the roles of linebacker and running back, bringing intensity and leadership to every snap. In the spring, he patrols center field for the Pawnee baseball team, using his athleticism to track down balls and keep opposing runners in check.

Cale credits his family and friends as his biggest motivators, but it’s his parents who stand as his strongest influences. “I’ve always looked up to them and try to be the best version of myself,” he shared. He also points to Mrs. McCurry, a teacher who encouraged him to become a stronger writer while sharing a mutual love for sports.

Known for his relentless work ethic, McPeek believes in giving maximum effort, “even when no one is looking.” That mindset has fueled many memorable moments, including a highlight he recalls vividly: “During the playoffs at home last year against Panama, I hit their running back so hard he went off his feet. It was right in front of our sideline, and the crowd just erupted. It was one of the loudest moments I’ve experienced.”

When it comes to rivalries, Pawhuska stands out as his favorite opponent, largely because of the history between the teams. Off the field, McPeek values his friendships, particularly with Aiden Jones, who he says pushes him to compete at a higher level. He also admires teammates like Hector Ramirez, Pawnee’s center: “He could have one bad snap out of a hundred, and that’s the one everyone remembers. He handles that pressure.”

In addition to athletics, Cale is active in Beta Club and the Fellowship of Christian Athletes. He balances a demanding schedule by staying disciplined, even if it means late nights finishing homework.

When asked about representing Pawnee, McPeek doesn’t hesitate: “It means the world. We have a great fanbase and community that support us, and it feels amazing to play for them.”

And after a big game? You might find him at Raising Cane’s, enjoying their “magical” toast and chicken strips.
