Throughout each of our lifetimes, there are those who have an impact on our lives and help us become the people we are and will be. For Kaidon Burk, who goes by KJ, he has a few people who fit that bill.
“My mom has raised my brother and I on her own and has always made sure we have everything we need to be successful,” he said. “She has always been my biggest supporter and cheerleader through everything. My uncles have stepped up and helped coach me from playing Pee Wee soccer at the YMCA to my first year of Coach Pitch in Morrison. I have had some of the best coaches growing up, from Coach Charlie Johnson in football to Stephen Andrew in baseball. They have all taught me something that I will use in life and sports. My family has been my biggest influence because every single one of them works as hard as they can in anything they do, and we are all competitive and want to win.”
KJ is entering his junior year at Morrison High School, where he is a member of the football, basketball, and baseball teams. He says that wearing the Wildcat uniform when he competes has been part of his plan all along.
“It means everything to me because I have been in Morrison since I was in first grade,” he said. “It has always been a goal for me to play high school sports for my school and then play at the next level. Loyalty is everything to me, and even when some of my best friends transferred and asked me to come, I stayed with Morrison because it is everything to me. I am blessed and humbled to play the sports I love in a community where I grew up. I have the best coaches and a supportive family, friends, and I am super excited for Friday night lights and the future of Morrison Athletics.”
To become the athlete that he is today, Burk has invested a lot of time and effort.

“It takes a lot to be successful in athletics,” he said. “Discipline and practice every day, and give 100% just as you would in a game. Also, to practice hard with your teammates to not just make you better, but also make your teammates better.”
