Coyle’s Jace Lemons – Basketball Spotlight – Presented by Stillwater Milling Co.

Throughout an athlete’s career, there are moments that stand out to them. Whether it is a personal achievement or a team accomplishment, the moment can be an impactful one for the athlete. Jace Lemons plays basketball for the Coyle Bluejackets and he has a memory that is at the top of his list.

“The highlight of my career was probably the in-game dunk I had against Burlington in the second round of the Pioneer Tournament,” he said. “I also had 32 in that game.”

Lemons is in his senior year at Coyle High School. Along with basketball, he is also an active member in the Student Council and he serves as his class president and The Family, Career and Community Leaders of America at Coyle.

There has been a lot of time and effort that Jace has invested into becoming the best athlete that he can be anytime he steps on the court.

“In order to be successful in my sport it has taken a lot of sacrifices and pain,” he said. “After battling through an ACL reconstruction, my eyes were really opened about the dedication and desire you have to carry to be great at the sport. My biggest motivation is seeing the improvement within myself.”

Along with all the work, Lemons has also had people that have helped him get to where he is. But he says that there is one in particular that has played a big role in his life.

“My mom is my biggest role model,” Jace stated. “She is the hardest working person I know. She always has shown me the right way in every aspect of life.”

While working and preparing for basketball is important, Jace also knows that he has to be successful in the classroom in order to be able to compete. He says that you have to have your priorities in order.

“Balancing my school work and athletics is like a routine that I have lived forever,” he said. “I take care of everything in school as early as possible and that has always been the rule my mom holds and I’ve always been able to do that.
