YALE BULLDOGS

Coach: RICHARD BAKER

9-3

OFFENSE

After a 9-3 season, coach Richard Baker is looking forward to getting his team back on the field and making another run at a district title in the newly formed Class BI. District 3 will present a few challenges, but Baker is confident his team will be ready. “We should finish high in our district. Returning a strong junior class. Looking to improve on our BI-district Championship,” said Baker. VYPE Top 100 nominee Logan Britton (5-9, 270, Sr.) led the team in pancake blocks last year and is ready for his final year of prep football. Several players will benefit from Britton’s efforts are at running back. Caymon Prather (5-10, 165, Sr.). Prather rushed for 407 yards on 68 carries, scoring five touchdowns. Braiden Hodgett (5-9, 156, Jr.) had 39 carries for 414 yards and five scores while Ben Whitsett (5-8, 155, Jr.) toted the rock 12 times for 64 yards and four scores of his own. Hodgett set the state record in powerlifting in the 157 class by squatting 515-pounds. The philosophy on offense is simple according to coach Baker, “We run an eclectic formation, some of this and some of that. Philosophy – score more than they do.” Quarterback Jaden Rolland (5-7, 145, So.) saw action as a freshman rushing the ball 15 times for 139 yards and three scores. Wide receiver Teagan Minney (5-10, 155, Sr.) grabbed 16 passes for 266 yards and five TDs. Skill players on offense will see the ball in coach Baker’s scheme.

DEFENSE
Most of the starters on offense will make their way to defense including Whitsett who will start at linebacker. Last season Britton made 178 tackles, 118 of those were solo. He also added three sacks, eight fumble recoveries and made one interception. Serious production from the 3-1 scheme coach Baker will employ. Britton moves to nose guard on defense where he made 112 tackles, 10 sacks and forced 10 fumbles. Britton is an animal inside and usually faces a double, sometimes triple team. The coaching staff consists of Brad Skinner, Matt Mueggenborg, Jim Pothorst, and Bo Cooper. The Yale Bulldogs have yet to win a state title in football. Behind the play of Britton, Whitsett and others, could this be the year?
