Tonkawa High School sophomore Kade Ditmore is a multisport athlete, playing both basketball, and baseball for the Tonkawa High School Buccaneers. For basketball, Kade plays the positions of power forward and center, while for baseball, Kade plays the positions of 1st Base and Pitcher. Many would consider Kade a veteran athlete, having played basketball since kindergarten, and baseball since the age of 3 years old.

As far as what it means to represent his school and community as a student athlete, Kade proclaimed, “I am proud to wear a Buccaneer jersey.  We work together as a team on and off the court and strive to be good role models to the younger kids.”

In regards to who his role models are, Kade looks toward family as the source. Kade explained, “My role models are my mom and my papa. My papa never misses a game and has always made sure that I was at every practice and lesson. He has always seen potential in me and has done everything he can to make sure I have the opportunity to succeed.”

Many memories are made during a student athlete’s career. For Kade, there is a moment that stood out. Kade stated, “During an Amateur Athletic Union (AAU) tournament this summer I was feeling sick before, and was not sure I would be able to continue playing in the game. All of a sudden, that changed; I continued to play, and had a double-double with 21 points and 11 rebounds. That was probably the best game I have ever played.”

In terms of what it has taken Kade to become successful in sports, Kade stated, “Success has come from having a mental and physical mindset toughness on the court.

Besides playing basketball and baseball, Kade also does strength training and condition

After graduating from high school, Kade plans on continuing his education, and continuing to play basketball at the collegiate level. Kade stated, “My plan is to go to college on a scholarship for basketball and get my bachelor’s degree. After that I want to start my own business from what I learn in actuarial services.”
