TONKAWA LADY BUCCANEERS
Coach: JOSH NICHOLS
2024-25 Record: 6-17
The Tonkawa Lady Buccaneers begin the 2024–2025 campaign with a renewed sense of direction as Josh Nichols takes over in his first season at the helm. Last year’s 6–17 finish is firmly in the past, and the team has embraced the challenge of reshaping its identity under a new coaching voice. Nichols has introduced fresh systems on both ends of the floor, and the players have responded with determination and a strong work ethic. He believes those efforts will translate into substantial improvement, crediting the group for the time and focus they’ve dedicated to learning the updated offensive and defensive principles.
Leadership has also been a bright spot for the Lady Bucs, who have developed a strong core of players willing to set the tone daily in practice. While depth in a few areas remains a concern, Nichols believes the collective effort, determination, and attitude of this roster will put them in a position to compete for far more wins this winter.

Tonkawa’s lineup features a blend of senior guidance, young talent, and promising underclassmen. At point guard, junior Henley Hembree (5-6, Jr.) will serve as the team’s floor general, directing the offense and providing stability with the ball in her hands. Senior Chloe Anderson (5-7, Sr.) brings length and experience on the wing, while sophomore Jazz Burris (5-7, So.) returns as a versatile forward capable of contributing in the paint and along the perimeter.
Sophomore Cabrey Boland (5-4, So.) gives Tonkawa flexibility with her ability to play both wing and point guard positions, and senior Addyson Durbin (5-5, Sr.) adds toughness and energy in the forward spot.
One of the most intriguing pieces of the roster is freshman post player Ashtin Howard (5-10, Fr.). Nichols praised her rapid development since the summer, noting that although she still has room to grow, her progress has been substantial. Howard is a strong finisher around the rim and is expected to be Tonkawa’s primary post presence. With the ability to average a double-double, she is poised to become a focal point of the offense. Nichols believes that by the end of her freshman campaign, Howard will command significant defensive attention, creating valuable opportunities for the team’s shooters.
With renewed confidence and a roster committed to improvement, the Lady Buccaneers look ready to establish a new foundation for success.
