VYPE: What grade are you in and what sports do you play?
Joey: I am a freshman at Tonkawa High School. I throw the shot put and discus on the track and field team.
VYPE: What has your sport taught you that makes you a better person?
Joey: Working hard and being consistent will take you far in life, and it also makes me a better friend and athlete.
VYPE: What teammate has left the biggest impression on you?
Joey: I enjoy watching my friend Jacky Sígala. She keeps getting better at every meet we go to, she works so hard and it really shows.
VYPE: Who inspires you?
Joey: The list goes on and on, I come from a family of great throwers. My grandfather, Paul Tabor, played football and threw at the University of Oklahoma along with his twin brother, Philip Tabor. My father, Cody Tabor, and mother, Sarah Aldrich, went to Cowley, where they both threw shot put and discus. My uncle, Cameron Tabor went to TCU. He also threw the shot put and discus and had a very successful career. My cousin, Geoffrey Tabor, went to Stanford University and also succeeded greatly in the shot put and discus.
VYPE: What is the best advice that anyone has given you?
Joey: My dad always tells me to relax and have a good time.
VYPE: Who is your favorite teacher from any grade?
Joey: Mr. Goodwin, my Ag Teacher, has always pushed me to be a better person, and he believes in all of his students.
VYPE: What is your all-time favorite meal?
Joey: My favorite meal is my grandma’s tamales.
VYPE: You can pick any place for a summer vacation, where do you go and who do you take with you?
Joey: If I could go anywhere I would want to take a road trip through Route 66 with my best friend Kynlee Martin.
