Ponca City’s Katelyn Clark – Presented by Phillips 66 Ponca

There are people in each of our lives who have an impact on us and help shape us into the people we are or will become. Katelyn Clark has a few people who fit that bill for her, but has one who stands out.

“Some of my biggest influences and role models are the people who have supported and shaped me throughout my life,” she said. “My grandpa had a huge influence on me as a growing athlete. He was the one who always took me to the course to run drills and play a few holes. One of the biggest things I will always remember he would tell me was ‘quiet mind and quiet eyes’. If you have ever competed on a golf course, you know that the hardest part of the game is between your ears. This is my golden rule for anytime I compete, at the course, or even on the dance floor.”

Clark is a senior at Ponca City High School, where she plays golf and is also a member of the Po Hi-Steppers. She also serves as vice president of the Student Council and the Future Farmers of America, and she is involved in the National Honor Society and the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee.

Throughout her high school years, Clark has made a lot of memories along the way. When asked what her favorite one was, she had a tough time narrowing it down.

“As I think about this question, I have realized I have been very fortunate for many highlights in my high school career,” she said. “From big wins like Drill Team National Champions in my sophomore year, the leadership positions I have been appointed in Student Council and FFA, to placing in the top ten at school golf tournaments, each moment has meant a lot to me. These accomplishments will always stick with me and show me that hard work does pay off in the end.”

It takes a lot to be a successful student-athlete, and Katelyn knows what has worked for her.

“Dedication, time, patience, and perseverance have made me successful in my career,” she said. “What motivates me is the idea of success and seeing the end product of my hard work.”
