Ponca City’s Darcy Hinterreiter – Volleyball Spotlight – Presented by Cherokee Strip Credit Union

As a senior at Ponca City High School, Darcy Hinterreiter has become a cornerstone of the Wildcats volleyball team. A six-rotation outside hitter, Darcy brings both skill and leadership to the court. Her game is fueled by more than just talent; it’s her unwavering motivation to set a positive example for her teammates that truly sets her apart.

Whether it’s grinding through intense practices or encouraging her teammates after a tough drill, Darcy believes in leading through action. “I try to be a good example,” she says. “That means working hard, and being a good teammate no matter what.”

The passion and drive for volleyball likely begins at home. Volleyball runs deep in the Hinterreiter family, and Darcy credits much of her passion and discipline to her parents. “It’s in my blood,” she says. “My mom has amazing knowledge of the game.”  My dad has a tremendous work ethic. “He always does things to the best of his ability, and that pushes me to do the same.”

One of the most memorable moments in Darcy’s volleyball journey was competing at the 2025 Volleyball Club Nationals in Las Vegas. Representing Rise Volleyball Club, she had the opportunity to play against some of the nation’s top talent. “It was a highlight of my career,” she reflects.   “Being able to travel and experience something new with my teammates was special.”

Playing for Rise Volleyball Club,  both Edmond for two years and Norman for one year, has required dedication and sacrifice. Twice a week, Darcy makes the 1.5-hour drive for practice, often missing out on social events and other opportunities. Still, she wouldn’t trade the experience.

Off the court, Darcy draws inspiration from top athletes like Harper Murray, her favorite person to follow on social media. “Harper is an amazing player and she creates relatable volleyball content,” Darcy shares.

As she prepares to close out her senior year, Darcy continues to be a driving force for Ponca City volleyball. Her love for the game, deep family roots, and relentless work ethic are the foundation of her success, and her legacy is being cemented.
