Ponca City Mom Sarah King – Presented by Ponca City Real Estate Co

There are a lot of interferences that can sidetrack high school students and knock them off course. But parents, like Sarah King, have to work to keep their kids on the right track.

“There are a lot of competing distractions and bad influencers on social media for teenagers,” King said. “As a parent I try to set a good example for what to fill our time and minds with and keep the longer term future in mind.”

Sarah is the mother of three. Kyle graduated from Ponca City High School in may. He was involved in swimming and band and will be attending Oklahoma State University in the fall. Lauren is a junior and she is a part of the cross country, basketball, and track teams. And Adam is a freshman and he will be competing in cross country and track.

As a parent of athletes, King does whatever she can to help out the teams with anything that needs done.
“I help with as many volunteer events, fundraisers and award banquets as my work schedule allows,” she said. “I am a booster club member and have been their grade school parent teacher league treasurer for over a decade.”

When she is not helping with her kids’ sports, Sarah is the Health Safety and Environmental manager at the Phillips 66 refinery.

“I am a member of First Lutheran Church and served on the Council in the past,” she said. “I have an all girls Boy Scouts of America troop 501 that does hiking and camping adventures, volunteering, and leadership activities.”

Sarah is proud to have her kids be a part of the Ponca City school district. She says that she is thankful for the involvement of the teachers and staff in her kids’ lives.

“I have been impressed with the leadership of teachers and advisors in the various extracurricular activities that my kids have been part of,” she stated. “They give so much of their own time to attend away events.”
