Ponca City mom Jayme Evans has built her life around helping students find their path and
making sure her own children have every opportunity to chase theirs. At home and in the
community, she balances the busy, overlapping worlds of academics and athletics with a
steady emphasis on priorities, support and family.
Evans and her husband are raising two active Wildcats, Creedon and Bristol, who keep the
family calendar full. Creedon is a sophomore at Ponca City High School and splits his time
between the pool and several leadership roles, competing in swimming while also
participating in FFA, Student Council and Youth Traffic Court. Bristol, a freshman at Ponca
City, leans into endurance and teamwork as a member of the cross country and track
programs, and she is involved in FFA as well. With both kids committed to multiple
activities, Evans said life has grown busier as they have gotten older, but that busyness is
something the family embraces.
Professionally, Evans serves as the Career and Guidance Counselor at Pioneer Technology
Center, where she works with area high school and adult students as they plan for their
futures. Her role allows her to be a resource and sounding board, connecting students with
opportunities and helping them discover their next steps beyond high school. Away from
work, she values simple time with her family, whether they are camping, spending time
outdoors or showing up to support Creedon and Bristol in whatever they are doing.
That support is evident in how the Evans family approaches athletics. Between both
parents, they make it a priority to attend every meet, competition and event their kids
participate in. They also expect their children to show up for one another, believing that
being each other’s biggest fans is just as important as competing. Evans acknowledges that
coordinating practices, competitions and carving out family time can be challenging,
especially with multiple sports and activities in the mix, but it is a challenge she would not
trade.
At the heart of everything is a clear message about priorities. Evans and her husband
remind their children that academics come first and that being a student comes before
being an athlete, even as they encourage them to give their best effort in every area. That
same mindset carries into her volunteer work; she serves as Treasurer of the Ponca City
Cross Country Parent Booster Club, helping ensure financial barriers do not keep students
from participating. For Evans, Ponca City’s size and strong booster support mean students
can find their “why” in athletics, fine arts or leadership, and when it comes to cross country,
she proudly views the team as more than just a roster, it is truly a family
