Ponca City’s Rachel Friess – Mom Spotlight – The Ponca City Real Estate

Being involved in your child’s life can be a lot of work and can make for some very long days, but the value of your efforts is priceless. For Rachel Friess, being an involved parent means showing up and participating. “It’s about cheering for their effort, recognizing growth and hard work, building their confidence, and helping them learn resilience, teamwork, and discipline. It’s being present for the wins and the losses, encouraging them to show up and work hard, and reminding them that their value isn’t defined by a scoreboard,” Freiss says. She got started with helping with her child’s sports program after seeing the need and wanting to play a part in the success of the team.

Some of her favorite parts of being a sports mom are the friendships that she’s forged with other parents through her kid’s sports. “I have been blessed to meet so many people, several of whom have become some of my best friends. We have been through it all on the sidelines supporting our kids.  I have so many wonderful memories with these parents that I will treasure for a lifetime,” Friess says.

For her, the toughest part about being a sports mom is having to sit on the sidelines as one of her children plays through the pain of scoliosis. It’s also a very proud and encouraging moment for her. “Her perseverance and determination have shown her she can do anything she puts her mind to, which is a lifelong lesson she will take with her moving forward,” Friess says.

When things get tough for Friess, her faith, family, friends, and gratitude get her through it. She gave a special mention to “The Tribe”. “There are four of us who are always helping with all of our children’s sports programs, no matter what is needed. They are amazing and such an asset the PCPS sports I have found it so important to surround myself with like-minded parents who are willing to go above and beyond for their kiddos.  Shout out to Caiti, Ryian, and Betty. I couldn’t do it without you guys!,” Friess says.
