Athletes work hard to reach the goals that they set for themselves. While they want to reach their personal goals, players like Kolton Ingmire says that his biggest motivation is to help his teams be successful also.
“The thing that motivates me the most is that our baseball program has never made it past regionals,” he said. “I would love to be a part of the team that changes that. In basketball both of my parents have won state titles for Frontier and I would love to join that legacy also.”
Ingmire is a junior at Frontier High School. He plays second base on the baseball diamond and guard on the hardwood. Outside of sports, he is also involved in the Fellowship of Christian Athletes and the National Honor Society.
Throughout his life, there have been people that have had an impact on Kolton’s life and helped shape him into the person that he is today and will become.
“My biggest influences are definitely my mom and dad,” he said. “They get up every morning and work very hard to provide for my siblings and me.”
He has invested a lot of time and effort to be a successful multi-sport athlete. But Ingmire knows that is what it takes.
“It has taken a lot of hard work to get where I am,” he said. “I have no off-season because when one season ends, another season begins.”
There have been some memorable moments that Kolton has enjoyed on and off the field throughout his career. But he has a couple that stand out as his favorite.
“The highlight of my career was getting to play in the regional tournament in baseball,” he recalled. “It was only the second appearance in Frontier school history. Out of all the teams we play, the opponent I like beating the most is probably Tonkawa because I grew up playing little league with a few of them.”
As a student athlete, Ingmire knows that being successful in the classroom is just as important as his success on the field or court.
“Sometimes it is hard to balance activities and also get all your school work completed but you just have to stay motivated and focused,” he said.
