As Blackwell freshman Tylee Rowe embarks on her high school athletic journey, she takes the time to discuss those who are the closest in her life, how much they inspire her, and what enables her to be successful in sports.
Rowe plays softball and basketball for the Maroons and is also involved in the Blackwell pep club.
“My sports have taught me to never give up and to give it my all at all times,” Rowe said.
The accomplishment she is most proud of comes from basketball, when she scored 217 points as an eighth-grader last year.
Rowe’s favorite teachers are Kasha Thompson and Kenzie Ward. “They have had a big impact on my life,” she said. “They push me to be the best and are so supportive and helpful in everything I do.”
She is inspired mostly by her older brother, Grant Rowe. “He is hard working in everything he does, and sets a great example for me to look up to,” Tylee Rowe said.
The best advice someone has given her, Rowe said, is “to never give up and to always give 100 percent,” she said.
Blackwell head softball coach Kenzie Ward says that Tylee is an outstanding athlete who has a bright future ahead of her.
“Tylee is a powerhouse athlete,” Ward said. “ Aggressive and dominating on the basketball court, throwing in Track, and a starting freshman on the softball field, this girl has what it takes to go far. Her potential is boundless, and her mindset is tougher than anyone I know.
Teammate Emmy Lorg is someone who also inspires her. “She is someone you can look up to,” Rowe said. “Just an amazing athlete and person, and an amazing teammate and friend.”
What does Rowe like the best about representing her school when she puts on the uniform?
“My favorite thing is that I get the opportunity to be great and achieve things as a Blackwell Maroon,” she said.
“I would like to thank my family and friends and coaches for always believing in me and pushing me to be better,” Rowe added.
