Madden Edgar is a sophomore at Blackwell High School. He got his start in wrestling from his dad. Ever since he was a small child, Madden has always been around the wrestling matches due to his dad being a wrestling coach. He was always there with his dad for the matches, so Madden grew up getting to watch the sport. His dad is not only his role model, but also his biggest positive impact. He does everything with his dad who not only helps him in wrestling, but also through life.
The highest moment in his career so far was being selected as the 2025 3A Champ, and he’s just a sophomore, showing that we may be seeing big things from him in the future. His favorite sports moment was the 2025 State Tournament, because his team broke the 3A point record, won dual State and State, set a new record of 6 for their school’s individual champions, had their first four time champion, and had the 3A Tournament Outstanding Wrestler as a part of their team. Madden’s favorite part of wrestling is being able to look back at the end of the season at the accomplishments that he has made along the way.
In his free time, Madden likes to go hunting and fishing. His favorite subject in school is math, because he enjoys thinking through the numbers. His favorite teacher is Mrs. Greer, because she makes it easy for him to learn. After high school, Madden plans to go to college and continue with his wrestling career. His field of study is still currently undecided.
To be a great athlete, Madden says that you have to be able to work hard and have dedication for your sport. Sports have taught him how to be disciplined. Coach Connor Cline, the high school wrestling coach at Blackwell High School, tells us that Madden is “made of high character and one of the hardest workers that he has ever coached.” When things get tough for Madden, he leans on the support of his coaches and family to get through it. His advice for other athletes is that if you work hard, it will pay off.
