The Blackwell High School softball team enters the 2025 season with momentum and high expectations following a strong 23-15 record last year. Under new head coach Kenzie Ward—who steps into the head coaching role after two years with the program—the Lady Maroons are poised to build on past success and make a serious run this season.
Coach Ward inherits a talented and determined roster. “This group of girls is hungry,” she said. “Coach Ray showed them what success feels like, and they want more.” That hunger is evident in the team’s chemistry, work ethic, and leadership. The synergy is undeniable, and Coach Ward believes this might be the most complete team Blackwell has fielded in years.

Leading the charge is senior pitcher Emmy Lorg, the heart and soul of the squad. Emmy brings a rare combination of talent, toughness, and leadership. She’s the first to arrive at practice and the last to leave, setting a tone of dedication. In the circle and at the plate, her aggressive style and strength make her a true difference-maker.

Another key returner is Nina Glass, a dynamic multi-sport athlete whose versatility is unmatched. Whether in the infield or outfield, Nina’s high softball IQ and energy elevate the entire team. Her bat will be a crucial weapon this season, and her enthusiasm is contagious.

Tylee Rowe, only a sophomore, is already turning heads. A fierce competitor in basketball, track, and softball, Tylee brings power and grit to the lineup. Her confidence and drive suggest she’s just scratching the surface of her potential.

Nora Glass rounds out the team’s strong leadership core. Known for her unselfish attitude and relentless positivity, Nora is a glue player who keeps the team grounded. Always asking how she can help, she embodies the team-first mentality that will be key to Blackwell’s success.
With strong leadership, depth, and determination, the Lady Maroons are ready to chase greatness in 2025.
