Behind every successful student-athlete, there’s often a dedicated parent cheering them on and making sacrifices along the way. For Blackwell’s Christin Glass, supporting her children’s athletic and academic pursuits has been both a joy and a calling.
Christin and her husband are proud parents of three children. Their son, Ethan Lawrence, graduated from BHS in 2019. Their daughters are both deeply involved in school and sports. Nina, a junior, competes in softball and basketball while also serving in Student Council. Nora, a sophomore, plays softball and basketball, cheers for the Maroons, and is active in Student Council as well.
When she isn’t at a ballgame or cheering from the stands, Christin works as the Medicaid Billing and Collections Specialist for Diakonos Group. She feels fortunate to work from home for a company that values faith and family, giving her the flexibility to attend her daughters’ games and even their travel sports on weekends. In her free time, she enjoys listening to audiobooks while crafting and is a devoted fan of MTV’s The Challenge, keeping up with both reruns and new episodes.
As an involved sports mom, Christin understands the highs and lows of competition. “My job as their mother is to remind them of how wonderful they are and that it’s ok to make mistakes,” she shares. She admits the toughest part is watching her daughters be too hard on themselves after a tough game. Together with her husband, she tries to offer advice and encouragement to help them overcome obstacles both on and off the field.
Priorities, she believes, are key to balance. “Academics are priority because you can’t play with bad grades,” she says. “If you’re on the bench for not doing your job, then you’re letting the team down.”
Christin also serves as President of the Lady Maroons Softball Booster Club, a role that keeps her busy and sometimes feels like a second job. Still, she loves giving back to the program. A proud BHS alum herself, Christin treasures the traditions of Blackwell and the close-knit community that continues to support her family.
