
VYPE: What grade are you in and what sports do you play?
Makena: I am a freshman at Ponca City High School. I play volleyball.
VYPE: Who is your favorite teacher from any grade?
Makena: In eighth grade, Mrs. Hartman was there for me when I started a new school in a new town. she helped me when I was struggling with my schoolwork or with friendships
VYPE: What teammate has left the biggest impression on you?
Makena: I look up Allie Duncan because her court awareness is great, and overall, she’s an amazing volleyball player, and she’s been super kinda to me this season
VYPE: Which professional athlete do you look up to?
Makena: I don’t follow a lot of professional sports, but on a college level, my favorite player would probably be Bergen Reilly, a setter from Nebraska, because she is consistent with her fast offense and her communication
VYPE: What accomplishment or memory are you most proud of?
Makena: A memory I’m proud of is getting all tournament in seventh grade for volleyball
VYPE: What has your sport taught you that makes you a better person?
Makena: it has taught me to keep going even when things are tough and aren’t going well
VYPE: What is your favorite part about representing your high school as an athlete?
Makena: being able to inspire other kids to be confident in their skills
VYPE: What is the best advice that anyone has given you?
Makena: That you need to trust your teammates to do their job, so they can trust you to do your job

Makena: I’m involved in an amazing youth group, and I also participate in club volleyball9
