2024-2025 Blackwell Maroons Basketball Preview – Presented by Stillwater Medical- Blackwell

BLACKWELL MAROONS

BOYS

Coach: Terril Hankins

23-24 Record: 15-11

There is excitement around the Blackwell boys basketball program as the new season approaches and it makes sense why. “Return five of our top six players,” said head coach Terril Hankins. “We were a fringe top 20 team last year in Class 3A. We are an experienced team with four senior starters and a junior. We won 15 games last year and we return almost everyone. We think we have a chance to go a long way this year and a chance to be rated at times also. We have good depth with eight guys that can give us time in a game. We are playing a very tough schedule in a very tough conference that should prepare us for the playoffs.” One of the guys back this season is Kevin Rios (6-3, Sr.). He is an outstanding point guard, a four year starter, and a two time All Conference player. He is a good kid, good student, and has a lot of talent. Returning for his junior year is Nik Flying Out (6-3, Jr.), who averaged double figures last year for the Maroons. A guy that can play inside or outside, Cooper Lusk (6-8, So.) will look to make an impact this season. Jake Johnson (6-4, Sr.) has the ability to play multiple positions on the court, wherever his team needs him. He does a solid job of handling the ball and is also a shot blocker. Matthue Mooring (5-11, Sr.) is a kid that is always ready to do what he can to help his team succeed. He is dependable and will accept any role without complaining. Other players that will make contributions to the season are Drake Hankins (6-1, Sr.), Skylen Rogers (6-0, So.), and Dorian Palma (5-10, Sr.)
