Ponca City Wildcats Cheer – Team Spotlight – Presented by Equity Bank

There is a lot of work that goes into a team being successful. Each member of the team has to do their part and play the role they are assigned to the best of their ability. The Ponca City cheer team is led by Amie Huster, who is in her fourth year of leading the program. She says that her team has great teamwork and it shows when they compete.

“Our team stands out because we embody resilience, heart, and commitment to each other,” she said. “Each cheerleader brings a unique strength, but together, they form a cohesive unit that thrives on trust, hard work, and a shared vision. Our team’s energy isn’t just about the stunts or the routines; it’s about lifting each other up and creating an environment where everyone feels valued and inspired to be their best.”

Senior Tootie Bales says that cheering for Ponca City is something that she is proud to do.
“I love the sense of community and school spirit when cheering for my school,” Bales said. “It’s so much fun to come together with fellow students and show our support for our Ponca City Wildcats.”

Coach Huster’s squad’s hard work has paid off in the form of awards and honors that they have brought home. Over the past couple of seasons, the team has won a number of awards, including first place in Camp Routine, second place in Camp Cheer Championship, first overall Game Day champion, first place in Large Varsity Overall Camp Game Day Champions, Varsity Superior Blue Ribbon Camp Routine, and Varsity Red Excellent Ribbon Camp Cheer.

Sophomores McKenzie Leven and Kelsey Baitchtal both have their favorite parts of being on the squad.
“I really enjoy how close our team is,” Leven said.
Baitchtal added, “My favorite part is all the people, the school spirit, and my mom coming to support me.”
