Ponca City High School Casey VanHoesen is a proud mother. She has two daughters that attend Ponca City High, Callie Jo, and Emma. Her oldest daughter Callie Jo is a senior at Ponca City High School and plays center mid for soccer, and runs cross country. Her other daughter, Emma, is a sophomore at Ponca City High School and runs cross country, as well as being a high stepper for the Ponca City High School Wildcats.
In regards as to how long her daughters have been involved in sports, Casey explained, “They have both ran cross country since they were in the 6th grade. Callie has played soccer all 4 years of high school and played since she was 4 years old. Emma has been a high stepper both of her high school years. “
Asked what it has taken for her student athletes to be successful, Casey stated, “It has a lot of time and effort. We have spent the last 3 years driving to Edmond for soccer practices and our summers going to 6:30 am summer running practice.”
In terms of what motivates her, Casey looks towards her family. Casey proclaimed, “I am motivated by both my girls and my husband. I love being involved in their lives and supporting them in all they do.”
As far as some of the things she enjoys the most about being a mom of student athletes, Casey reflected, “I obviously love watching my girls do the things they love and excel at; watching Callie on the soccer field. and Emma performing during halftime of football games- it brings me so much joy. Additionally, I have also loved being involved in the soccer, cross country and high stepping booster clubs and being a part of the other athlete’s lives.
Casey is clearly dedicated to watching both daughter’s sporting events. Casey accounted, “I cannot even begin to count the number of soccer, cross country meets, football, and basketball games I have attended. I can only ever remember missing one, and even then, I still watched the live stream.”
